• Establishing a safe and healthy childcare environment
• Establishing routines for the childminding day
• Providing play and other activities for children
• Treating children with equal concern
• Helping children to settle in to your childminding setting
• Using positive methods for managing children’s behaviour
• How to deal with Safeguarding children issues
• Introducing the importance of working in partnership with parents
• Starting a childminding business

This is compulsory course for all childminders.

Attending an Introduction to Childminding Practice course is a MANDATORY requirement of the registration process with OFSTED. The Introduction to Childminding Practice course (ICP) is the first of five units to achieve the CACHE (http://www NULL.cache NULL.org NULL.uk/CacheDnn/Default NULL.aspx) (Council for Awards in Children’s Education) (http://www NULL.cache NULL.org NULL.uk/CacheDnn/Default NULL.aspx) level 3 Diploma in Home-based Childcare (DHC). The first unit, Introduction to Childminding Practice, has 12 hours of training. The first unit of the ICP is assessed by undertaking a short, multiple choice question paper at the end of the course.

• Certificate in Childminding Practice Unit 1: Introducing Childminding Practice (ICP).
• This training is seen as the main route to developing high quality childminding services.
• This unit meets the statutory requirements for home-based practitioners seeking childminding registration.
