Introduction to Safeguarding Children & Young People

Course contents include -
- Broad definitions of child abuse and neglect
- Being aware of the factors that may indicate that a child is suffering significant harm through abuse or neglect
- An awareness of how a child’s race, culture, gender and ability forms an assessment of their needs.
- Knowing how to act on any concerns in accordance with the inter-agency local safeguarding children’s boards procedures.
- Knowing how to make a referral to children’s services, social care.
- The framework assessment for children in need and their families and how it links with the safeguarding children procedures.
This is an optional course for childminders and provides a certificate of qualification valid for 3 years.
