NVQ Level 3 CCLD (Children’s Care, Learning and Development)

I’ve enrolled with @home childcare training centre to do this course. I began on February 6th 2010 and hope to complete this course by September 30th 2010.

I have currently completed 6  units and am working on unit 7 of 9. I’m currently 82% complete with my course.

This course is worked around my family life, working hours and is home based, with an NVQ assessor visiting me during working hours or hours to suit my needs.

Information about the course

The Level 3 CCLD is an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) for people who are working in childcare. It continues your professional development from Level 2 awards and acts as a stepping-stone in your career. You can complete it if: You are working in face-to-face roles with children, young people (aged 0-16 years) and families, either supervising others or working unsupervised.

Course content

The Level 3 CCLD is made up of 9 units - 5 mandatory units and 4 option units. You need to complete all 9 units to achieve the full certificate.The mandatory units are:

CCLD 301 Develop and promote positive relationships

CCLD 302 Develop and maintain a healthy, safe and secure environment for children

CCLD 303 Promote children’s development

CCLD 304 Reflect on and develop practice

CCLD 305 Protect and promote children’s rights

The optional units that you choose should relate to your current work role. The optional units I will be doing are:

CCLD 307 Promote the health and physical development of children

CCLD312 Plan and implement positive environments for babies and children under 3 years

CCLD316 Maintain and develop a childminding business

CCLD320 Care for children at home

Additional units may be undertaken after the 9 units to complete the course and I am looking at doing a few extra units on top of my 9 required.

This is currently an optional course available to childminders.
